Kate: Why Media?
"It is important because it gives a medium that is attainable by huge groups of people. So, suddenly, they can make a little film, and it can be on YouTube and all of their friends can see it. They can be sent off to thousands of unknown viewers, or it can be showed in their school, or it can be shown in various different capacities."
Matt: Motivation and Influence
"I think they were intrigued by public service announcements when they saw the ad council videos that we showed them in the course. After that I think their motivation was they were just trying to do what we wanted them to do."
Jos: Why Media and Sex Ed?
"I think it lends accessability to sexual education so if you can have a video that you make, and if we can put it up on Youtube and put it on our website or something and you can show it to all your friends, you can screen it your classroom or at your school or where have you, and wherever, then that’s really exciting."
Marlo: Media Training at Head & Hands
"The whole question of media awareness and media literacy, and how that relates to the work that we do and the youth, who we work with, I think it’s really a gigantic question. I mean, a personal note here, I first accessed the internet in my first year college, which kind of seems like ages ago, and my brother, on the flip side, was building websites when he was in high school."
